12 May A Closer Look At: Nir Eyal, An Expert on Building Habit Forming Products
What do you get when you mix psychology, technology, and business in the context of product development? Nir Eyal would tell you that its “behavioral design”, and it just so happens to be a specialty of Nir’s. In fact, his background as a product developer and entrepreneur allows Nir to use this form of behavioral design — encompassing things like user experience, behavioral economics, and according to his bio, “a dash of neuroscience” — to develop a methodology to create habit-forming products. Through Nir’s book, Hooked (with Ryan Hoover, co-founder of Product Hunt as the co-Author), readers are able to understand how to build and launch products that are engaging and specifically designed to support their business objectives.
Nir certainly has the academic and professional gravitas to write a book like Hooked. According to Nir, most of his learning was done at the “School of Hard Knocks.” He’s likely referencing his real-world rooted professional career as an entrepreneur, where he’s experienced two successful exits since 2003. His academic background shouldn’t be overlooked, though. Nir studied at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and Design School, where he’s also been a frequent lecturer.
Nir’s presence as industry conferences and workshops has become highly in-demand. To get a glimpse of what you might expect when you see Nir present in person, check out his talk from The Next Web Conference:
To see Nir speak in person, look no further than the upcoming Industry 2015 summit, where we’re thrilled to have Nir Eyal present one of three “Master Classes” for the 2-day summit. Headlining the “Build” theme at Industry, Nir will dig even deeper on what it takes to build habit forming products — and will be on hand to interact directly with our community of product leaders.
